Green Eggs & Ham…

Well, all of my company is gone and I realize now how much more I love it here! After hearing all of the horror stories of what is going on in Baton Rouge, as far as crime, traffic, general BS & things like that I'm even more glad that I left! And although I love my family dearly, I realize the older I get, how little we have in common. I just knew everyone would be in "awe" over the wonderful waterfalls, trails, mountains, wildflowers, forests, etc., but they weren't. I think they would have enjoyed their stay better if I lived next to the largest shopping mall in the world that was open 24 hours and included an indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool, tanning bed & day spa. In fact, I know my sister would have. Not that what she likes or doesn't like should be the same as me, I just wish she could learn to "suck it up" a little better and try to enjoy herself, regardless of the surroundings. It's very hurtful when you are trying your best to show someone a good time and all they do is complain and wish they were somewhere else. In any event, I'm so glad I got to see them and visit with them and I'll always love them all, no matter what. I'm sure I have my own little "quirkies" that only Wayne "loves". But at this point in my life, that's all that matters anyway, right! You're probably thinking, "I can't believe she's writing this, what if they read her blog". No worries, they don't read it. In fact, I'm almost 100% certain they don't even realize it exists. And if they do read it, it's one less thing "off my chest" that I didn't have to verbalize {thank you, very much}. One of the great things about their visit is that Lita got to meet her little cousin, Gitgit. She's a little "Shitzu" and Lita just loved her. They played & played all week. I think Ozzy was glad he was being left out, since it gave him a chance to rest. I'll post some more about all of that later, along with some pictures. Right now, I'm getting ready to open a bottle of wine and get in the hot tub and relax for the rest of the night and enjoy the company of my husband. But, before I go, I have to announce the winner of the awesome earrings from last Friday's Post and it is Jen!!! Congratulations!!! So, for next week, the give-away will be these:

And all you have to do to win them is post a comment on THIS BLOG. A winner will be chosen next Friday by Ozzy! Good luck everybody! Have a terrific weekend! Happy Friday – "TGIF"

Xxoo & peace always ~ Kathy

  1. Thanks Lita and Kathy. My family, or part of it, is on their way here as we speak. My parents from Fort Worth and my brother and nephew from Michigan who, every spring break, come to beautiful Northwest Arkansas to visit us. We have beautiful waterfalls and lots of hiking here too, and thankfully, my whole family loves the outdoors and they don't mind that I live 30 minutes from anywhere down a gravel road...my motto is, "I like to be around people, I just don't like to be near them."
Funny too, I just cleaned out my hot tub and its' refilling...I'm out of wine, but have a nice bottle of Bombay Sapphire and some fresh limes...now, back to cleaning toilets so my mom doesn't think we're heathens!!
    Have a great weekend.

  2. Hee hee ~ that's going to be one of my new motto's now :) My Mom just called - they made it home safe & sound. I wish they were more the "outdoors" type, but I still love them just the same. After all, somebody has to keep the stores open! Have a fun time with your family, Jen! ♥ & peace always ~ Kathy

  3. Are you sure that you're not talking about MY family? I have two families- my blood family and my 'family' family. The latter keeps me sane.

  8. Hi Kathy! I understand what you mean about your family and wanting them to love the things you love. I started posting pictures on flickr so my family could see my pictures and i don't think they look at them very much, if ever.

You're so lucky to live where you live with all the beautiful outdoors. Y'all got to "retire" while you're young enough to enjoy it :O)

I love the book "Green Eggs and Ham" When I first started going to school my teacher read that to us. I remember being in my mom's bedroom with some random book and quoting Green Eggs and Ham like I was reading to my "pretend" class. My mom came in and asked me what I was reading. I don't even think I had learned to read yet, but I could recite :O) Maybe that's why I love to read to this day. Thanks for reminding me of that special memory!

  9. I wish Said & I could visit you & Wayne!!! I'd love it there - I already know I love NC, so the surroundings you describe & the company we'd be in only sweetens the pot! We miss you. Lily & Bourre would love it too. Take care... Hope to see you when you come back to BR (as horrible as it is). MUAH!
