Making New Stuff with Old Stuff!

Re-purposing, reusing, old is new, treasure hunting, thrifting, antiquing, call it want you want, but "old" is the new black these days!  I had a friend's daughter staying with us for a couple of weeks and she is an art major in college.  She LOVES the hunt for cool stuff to include in her art.  So, off we went on a scavenger hunt...and talk about a gazillion places to do that in around Brevard and Asheville, NC!  I was just along for the entertainment, until I came across an old container FULL of vintage buttons...most from the 40's, 50's and 60's.  A lot of them made from bakelite and some of them hand-carved, like these quirky little sheep heads?
And I love those six hole green ones and those square red ones and these:
Vintage Murano Glass from Italy!  Of course, I will be using these in my sewing projects, like these cute little bracelets I made yesterday:
I love the black and white fabrics on this one!  And then there's this one, appropriately named "Mountains to Sea", because of the cute mountain, sea and forest fabrics!
But the strangest thing I saw on our hunt was this:
A real full skeleton of an 8 year old boy!!  Creepy...but not as creepy as this:
And with that, I'm off to sew!  Hope you are having a great Summer, so far!

love and peace always --- Kathy
