I love visiting the little farm down at the end of my road! It seems like I can be having the worst of days and then I go down there and immediately start smiling. And, as luck would have it, these cute little chicks arrived yesterday, just in time for Earth Day!
These two were hatched and the little mama hen was so excited! And then, the delivery truck arrived bearing a box of 51 baby chicks that had just hatched the day before. Well, that one little mama hen suddenly become the mother to 53 baby chicks! The survival rate of the additional 51 baby chicks immediately increased because of the surrogate hen mother. So cute!!!
And, of course, I had to go back today to check on everybody, including these sweet little baby bunnies...
there are 9 of them in all and they are getting so fat that they are quickly out-growing their rabbit hole.
And I couldn't close this post without sharing a photo of my favorite little goat!
What a great day!! Hope all is well with you!!
Happy Monday!!

Last Night I Dreamed of Chickens by Jack Prelutsky
Last night I dreamed of chickens,
there were chickens everywhere,
they were standing on my stomach,
they were nesting in my hair,
they were pecking at my pillow,
they were hopping on my head,
they were ruffling up their feathers
as they raced about my bed.
They were on the chairs and tables,
they were on the chandeliers,
they were roosting in the corners,
they were clucking in my ears,
there were chickens, chickens, chickens
for as far as I could see...
when I woke today, I noticed
there were eggs on top of me.

Oh how I've missed you Kathy! I love the pics and the poem reminded me of the time I came home and door hadn't been shut properly and the chickens had been in the house...there was poop everywhere! There was poop on Clancy's pillow and 2 chickens roosting on the tv table in our bedroom...still like statues...hoping we wouldn't notice them. I laughed and laughed...
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work..I'm down 20!
Hugs.
