Whatever you are...be a good one!

I can't believe Summer is already over!  Seems like it just began...time keeps going by faster and faster...I can barely keep up!  And Halloween will be here before we know it!  I've been busy sewing and making new jewelry --- getting ready for the holidays, which seems so strange to be saying!  I adore these little tassel bracelets --- they are so cute and so easy to just pop on, as you head out the door --- they go with anything --- and, this one in particular is made with some gorgeous Matte Tigereye stones.  I've also been including a couple of Lava Rocks, which can be infused with your favorite essential oils...if you so desire!
I've also been busy making new zipper pouches that can be used for so many things.  This little Sock Monkey bag had me smiling the whole time I was sewing it up!  Sew cute!!!
These little bags make great gifts!  You can check all of them out right here in my Etsy shop!
So the "Whole30" came and went, along with 22 lbs.!!!!  I'm so stoked!  Now we have transitioned to a somewhat "Paleo" way of eating!  And Wayne and I both feel sooooo much better!  If you've never tried "Spaghetti Squash", it is really awesome! Topped off with baked chicken cutlets [using this recipe] and some delicious "Rao's Marinara Sauce" [I could literally live on this stuff! Toss up a small side salad and dinner is on!  So good and GOOD for you!

On that note...now that I'm starving, I'm off to fix lunch and make some new stuff!  Stay safe out there!

Autumn Splendor and a Fresh Start!

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for Autumn!  It's been so hot, muggy and rainy here lately, I think I have mold behind my ears!  And these awesome earrings I made today will be perfect for your new Fall wardrobe!  I love them!  They are appropriately named "Autumn Splendor" and they are available in the shop!
So, as of yesterday, Wayne and I started the "Whole30" --- this was our lunch today...a beautiful salad, topped with salmon and a Ranch Dressing that I made from scratch!!!  It was so yummy!  I'm pretty sure this way of eating will not be hard for us.  It's really come down to not having a choice, unless we want to continue to be more and more unhealthy...and, by choosing that route, it will get to the point we won't be able to do anything about it.  So, while we still can, we are making life changes!  Stay tuned for more on that and more delicious, healthy recipes!
And this is a cute little necklace for Autumn, also!  And only $16!  I love it!
Of course, I had to leave you with a butterfly picture!  They are all over the flowers right now!  I love when they visit!  I always know it's my daddy when the Black Swallowtail shows up!

Making New Stuff with Old Stuff!

Re-purposing, reusing, old is new, treasure hunting, thrifting, antiquing, call it want you want, but "old" is the new black these days!  I had a friend's daughter staying with us for a couple of weeks and she is an art major in college.  She LOVES the hunt for cool stuff to include in her art.  So, off we went on a scavenger hunt...and talk about a gazillion places to do that in around Brevard and Asheville, NC!  I was just along for the entertainment, until I came across an old container FULL of vintage buttons...most from the 40's, 50's and 60's.  A lot of them made from bakelite and some of them hand-carved, like these quirky little sheep heads?
And I love those six hole green ones and those square red ones and these:
Vintage Murano Glass from Italy!  Of course, I will be using these in my sewing projects, like these cute little bracelets I made yesterday:
I love the black and white fabrics on this one!  And then there's this one, appropriately named "Mountains to Sea", because of the cute mountain, sea and forest fabrics!
But the strangest thing I saw on our hunt was this:
A real full skeleton of an 8 year old boy!!  Creepy...but not as creepy as this:
And with that, I'm off to sew!  Hope you are having a great Summer, so far!

Owls & Pussycats

How cute is this fabric!  Of course, I'm partial to dogs, but cats are certainly sweet, too!  I was on a roll the last couple of days making new things with some adorable fabrics I just bought!  I never knew how addicted to "fabric" I could become!  I should've had an idea, though...especially when I saw "snake and grasshopper" fabrics [insert swoon] --- I'll be making something with those today...and maybe more dogs!  And, possibly...butterflies!  And, of course, Owls:
I think the "real" problem is, I just love everything!  And you can find both of these for sale in my Etsy Shop!
And I had to share this with ya'll!  Walked outside with my coffee and camera this morning to photograph my gorgeous "Bee Balm" that is starting to bloom and my photograph was "bombed" by a Bee!  Look at the pollen he has collected on his legs!  I seriously do not know how they manage to fly!  Amazing!

Happy Day!  Life is good!

Hiding in plain sight!

A lucky find for me today on my walk in the forest...a gorgeous "Catocala" aka "Underwing" Moth.  This one was using its camouflage, since he wasn't too sure about my camera lens [it does tend to look like a giant mouth to little critters, I'm sure].  But, you can still see a tiny speck of its beautiful colors underneath!
Amazing!!  Life is good!  Oh, and how many of you got to see that gorgeous "Strawberry Moon" last night?  It was beautiful!  We drove up to "Pretty Place" at "Camp Greenville" to watch it come up:
And it was certainly worth the trip!
Last full moon on the Summer Solstice until 2062!

Happy Summer, ya'll!

I hear the Katydids!  That could only mean one thing...it's Summer!  Happy Summer Solstice!!  Enjoy the Strawberry Moon tonight...first full Moon on the Summer Solstice since 1967 and won't happen again until 2062!  Hope you enjoy it!

Life is good!

I'm Quite Addicted to Sewing!

We just got back from a wonderful vacation down south!  Got to visit my dearest friends and my family!  So much fun!  But I couldn't wait to get back home to sew!  It's my newest passion!  I'm on a roll making these cute little bags!  I love them!  Of course, I've always been a "bag lady" anyway...I love little bags, wallets and purses...and now I can make my own!
I have to admit, this little camping fabric is absolutely precious!  And I adore the little tassels on the zipper pull.  Another of my favorites is this one:
And then, of course, there's this one:
I cut out a leather feather for the zipper pull on it!  But then yesterday, I made this one...I love the chickens!!!  So cute!
Of course, they are for sale in my etsy shop!  Check them out!  They make great little gifts!
Wildflowers are blooming like crazy around here!  This is one of my most favorites and one of the first ones to pop up in early Spring --- it's called "Star Chickweed" --- so cute!

Have a great weekend, ya'll!

Waiting on some rain!

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

It's almost Spring!!!

I'm in love with these today!!!  The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the breeze is blowing and it's March 2nd!!!  What more could you possibly wish for!  I've been busy sewing and making cute little things for this year's Farmer's Market that is starting up April 23rd.  But today, I glanced over at my bead desk and it looked so sad and lonely.  I decided I would spend a little bit of time making some jewelry, while the rays of sunshine beat through my window and bounce off of my crystals!  And to celebrate this wonderful day, I'm giving away a pair of these awesome earrings!  For a chance to win, just comment on this post!  I'll be drawing a winner Monday [March 7th] morning!
This is one of the cute little bags I made yesterday!  I love the fabric!  And this one even has a pocket inside, made with a piece of vintage Kantha quilt.  Sew cute!

Well, I'm off to make more jewelry!  Good luck in the drawing!
