I wish I was more of an "outdoors" type of girl...

...sometimes I wish I would've grown up biking, hiking, and mountainside climbing, just because I think I would have really enjoyed it NOW.  Growing up in South Louisiana wasn't the best place to do any of those things.  Of course, I was always out on my bike when I was a kid, but that was way different than tearing down the side of a mountain and jumping tree roots and steams on a bicycle!  Those people are crazy!

Or, more likely it's just second nature to them.  A lot of times I feel a little twinge of envy when somebody goes running past me on a trail, or flying past on a mountain bike with mud all over their backside...I kinda wish it were me, but it's not.  At least I finally discovered, even later in life, that I truly LOVE being outside, even if it's just looking out my window.
I read an article yesterday on Yahoo about a family "living off the grid" and I thought, that would really be fun and then I think..if I were only younger...as I'm reading farther down in the article and looking at all the photos of the cute little family and their adorable little house and their animals and their garden...the whole time getting more and more envious...and then, I get to the photo of the mom, washing cloths "the old fashioned way" with a washboard and hanging them on the line and I think "hell no!"  And then "SNAP" ~ I'm back in my own little world and truly grateful that I live MY life the way I want to live because I wouldn't want it any other way!  I think life is just like that...everybody has their purpose and mine is NOT being an "outdoors" type.
But I do love hiking and walking through the woods with my camera!

I’m officially A “Country Girl”

What a gorgeous day it was again today! We took a long drive and then a walk through the woods. We stopped along the way and got close up to a group of cows that were being fed apples! They were so cute & soft. I got several "kisses" from one very sweet one named "Daisy" ~ that's her in the middle #44

After that, we drove along the road and came upon a couple of gentlemen digging up potatoes. They had a huge basket full, so I just had to stop and ask them if I could buy a couple. Wayne's always told me that there is nothing better than a baked potato fresh from the ground. Of course, the men would not hear of us actually paying, so they gave us as many as I could carry in my hands and then we were off again. I have those potatoes in the oven right now and I can smell them. I can't wait to taste them. I got some shredded cheese to go on top and then we'll have some split-pea and ham soup to balance out our dinner. Country cooking 101 ~ Katie would be proud {and you know who you are Katie}. Hee hee ~ who says you can't turn a suburban girl into a country girl over night ~ I beg to differ.

But before I go, I just have to share this awesome meadow at the top of the mountain ~ right up from where the cows live:

Is it gorgeous, or what! I'm never going back to Louisiana, Never!

I hope you are having a super week so far ~ I'll be posting some new work this week, so please check out the shop when you get a chance. Thanks for reading my ramblings......

Xxoo & peace always ~ Kathy

Friends & Critters

I just had to share this with all of you today. My Mom found this when she was going through some boxes of pictures and things she had saved from when I was a kid. She e-mailed me this today. I must have written it in 2nd or 3rd grade. It just goes to show how some things never change. I still love to write stories, tell stories, draw & color. But most of all, my love for critters started when I was very young. I hope you enjoy my little story, obviously my teacher did {hee hee}. I was such a good student!

Well, I bit the bullet and cut almost all of my hair off! eeekk ~ I love it though. Although, I have a slight resemblance to "Harry Potter" when I have no makeup on and just my reading glasses. Still in all, I can't believe I was never brave enough to cut my hair until now. Actually, I didn't cut it, but got it cut at a salon. I'll have to share a picture later.

I managed to get several new things made and listed in the shop today, so please do check them out when you get a minute. My most favorite thing is this awesome little wrap bracelet. I just love how it turned out and it's just so perfect for every day ~ Bohemian & funky, like me:
Plus, it's named so appropriately "That's A Wrap".

I talked with my bestest friend Sharon at length today. We just yaked & yaked for over an hour. She convinced me that I need to come spend a weekend with her soon. She lives right on the beach in Florida and we just walk & talk for hours collecting shells and listening to the peeping of the gulls & splashing of the seas. I promised her I would come soon and I will. So Sharon, when you read this post, you'll know I meant it :0)

When you sit back & think about it, Friends & Family are all you really have that mean anything. Everything else is just lagniappe {except dogs, of course}. Anyway, I need to go get dinner ready & fill a few orders. I hope everybody is having a wonderful Tuesday!

xx00 ♥ & peace ~ Kathy
