Hey everybody!! I hope you all had a great weekend! We had sunshine and warm sunny days both Saturday & Sunday!! We got out and enjoyed both days, so I'm sorry I didn't update my blog until today. This is a photo of my son and my husband, dragging the canoe out of the French Broad River yesterday ~ ah...Life is Good!!
Now, about this...Although I can't be 100% sure I made this pendant, I'm pretty sure I did. A couple of years ago one of my customers in New York contacted me when I used this image as a background for one of my necklaces. The image is a painting by Mark Ryden called "Rose".
I've been a fan of Mark Ryden for a long time and I have one of his books that has a lot of his paintings in it, including this one. Anyway, my customer asked me if I could make a shrinky-dink [which I was making tons of at the time] out of this image for her daughter. I told her that it was a Mark Ryden painting and he is very very particular about copyright infringement issues. You literally cannot find anything made with his stuff, unless it's coming directly from him. My customer had ordered several things and I was making a batch of shrinky-dink pendants, so I went ahead and made one with this image and sent it with her jewelry as a surprise. Since I didn't want any copyright issues, I made it for her for "free". I really loved how it turned out, so I made myself a broach. So, if this is, in fact, the pendant I made, I have no idea how Steven Tyler ended up with it. I've tried to zoom in on it as much as I can and it certainly looks like the one I made, including the little black seed bead bail, which he has a safety pin through and then hanging on a chain. I almost feel off the couch when I saw him wearing it. And then, of course, my mind starts racing...thinking "what if Mark Ryden sees it and wants to know where it came from"...I can only hope he doesn't watch American Idol!
I'll leave you with another photo from this weekend. It was a gorgeous day up on the Blue Ridge Parkway! I hope we are on an up-hill climb towards Spring!!
Happy Monday everybody!! Thanks for being so awesome!
♥ & peace always ~ Kathy

We had a great weekend too, a long hike on Saturday and a quiet Sunday.
