"Free Stuff" - Laissez le bon temps rouler..

It's almost carnival time!!  One of the things I miss about Louisiana [a little bit] ~ Mardi Gras! One of the biggest "free" parties in the world!  Where you can go and get a bunch of free "junk", which is totally worthless and useless, but at the time you would die or kill for!  It's something that gets in your veins...it's hard to explain, unless you experience it for yourself.  But, if you won't be able to attend this years festivities, you can at least try to win a pair of these:
I named them "Carnival Time" ~ and all you have to do to win them is comment on this blog post.  Let me know if you've ever been to Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday in New Orleans and what you thought about it!  Ozzy will be picking the winner Friday!  Good Luck!!
So how about a Mardi Gras freebie for everybody!  The Tabasco website has an awesome "Mardi Gras Screen Saver" that you can download for free.  It's your own personal parade, including beads, cups and a full marching band from Iberville Parish!  The parade goes on and on...you'll be ready to put your arms up in the air and scream, "throw me somethin', mister!"  I've been enjoying this little parade on my computer for years.  The dancing girls crack me up...but not nearly as much as the street sweepers that roll by on the end!  I know you'll enjoy it, too!  Laissez le bon temps rouler [let the good times roll]...Good luck in the drawing!!

♥ & peace always ~ Kathy

  1. Sadly, I have not yet experienced all that is Mardi Gras. The closest I've come is seeing Eric Lindell play live at a local venue in Virginia Beach. The earrings are "gaw jus," Kathy! :)

  2. Hey Kathy! I grew up in South Louisiana and my little town, Franklin, had it's own parade...I even rode on a couple of floats!!! Throw me somethin', mistah!!!

  3. Unfortunately, I've never experienced Mardi Gras either. A trip to N.O. is on my bucket list, though. The earrings are gorgeous. I love the duo-colored stones!

  4. One of the best things about me is that I was born in New Orleans and I love that I get to say that. I lived there until I was 7 and then my Mom moved us Michigan. I remember Mardi Gras as a great party for kids, when it was still tame by today's standards...being on my Dad's shoulders and yelling, "throw me somethin' mister!" I can taste the King cake and still feel how biting down on that little plastic baby felt...the smell of the creosote down at the ferry crossing after we moved to Gretna on the West Bank...Aunt Sally's pralines, beignets at Cafe' du Monde and snowballs...coconut and chocolate were my fave.
Thanks for helping me to remember such a wonderful place and time in my life.
    Merci!

  5. Growing up we did Sunday in the city and Tuesday in smaller towns. My husbands family did Fat Tuesday in the city. Rationally, I would never believe that I would drag my kids into huge crowds to have junk thrown at you, but it's Mardi Gras. Now we do Sunday in small towns and Tuesday in the big city. I shouldn't admit to bringing the kids to Spanish town (BR), but they have a kid friendly dedicated zone now. Homemade king cakes every Sunday in our house. I'm getting excited now. 6. whoo hoo!!! Wendy & Jen, "Mi aime jou" ~ Dana & Melanie, "I love ya'll". Keep New Orleans on your list, Melanie...you'll be glad you did. And Dana, if you win the earrings, I'll send you some Mardi Gras beads and Doubloons along with them. ~ ♥ ya'll!

  7. Lol Ellen, we would have a ladder tied to a street lamp and my ex made Broc a "box seat" for the top of the ladder. I would climb up to where I was standing behind him...omg, you would not believe the stuff that kid got! We literally would come home with 2 or 3 huge black trash bags full. We never took him on Fat Tuesday, because they took the barricades down [guess everybody was sober enough not to need them by then - lol]. Ah...I'm liking this post today...lots of memories. Thanks for commenting!!

  10. I haven't been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras but it's on my bucket list. I have, however, been craving cake lately and I'm thinking a King Cake sounds good. I've always wanted to find a little baby in my dessert.
