Spring Day & A Give Away!!

We went to the "North Carolina Arboretum" yesterday. It was a beautiful Spring Day and I just love it there! Everything is just starting to bud and all of the daffodils are blooming. The education center was hosting an Orchid Show. There were 100's of orchids on display and they are just amazing! The detail in some of those flowers is mind-boggling. I picked out a few favorites, even though I loved them all! Like these:they reminded me of little tiny squid...but these were awesome, too:
I just loved the green flowers. All in all, the show made me want to get back into my orchid growing. I have several right now that need some "tlc". Since it's a little drab outside today, I think that will be my afternoon project.

It's been a while since I've had a give away, so I think it's about time for some lucky someone to win these:Even though they are called "Antarctica", they remind me of Spring & flowers and sunshine! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and you will be automatically entered in the drawing. Ozzy will be picking the lucky winner Wednesday [March 31st] ~ Good Luck!!

Gotta run peeps ~ have a great day!!

  1. Hey Kathy, if you love orchids, search for Paulding Farnham orchid brooches online. Paulding was Clancy's great grandfather; head designer and VP of Tiffany and Co. at the turn of last century. He's considered Tiffany's lost genius as titled in a book by John Loring of T and Co. His work may inspire!
    Enjoy Spring.

  6. Kathy, I may have an extra copy lying around, but I'm not certain. Ebay has a few...Paulding was married to Sally James Farnham, who began sculpting late in life and was a friend of Frederic Remington's. She did the sculpture of Simon Boliver at the Ave. of the America's in Central Park and many other commissions. You can check her out at SallyJamesFarnham.org
Yes, the artistic gene is strong in this family. Paulding and Sally were Clancy's Mom's grandparent's and their daughter, society girl and all married an Irish beat cop, well, chief of the mounted police in NYC...created quite a scandal at the time. I love Clancy's family history.
    Peace!

  7. Beautiful Kathy!
Just wanted to tell you that you are the best for doing another give-away (but please don't include my name in the give-away since I won last time and don't think it would be fair).
    Keep those lovely jewels coming!
